franky marshall
franky is an established figure in the cocktail world of New York and beyond. She has worked at such storied establishments as Clover Club, Monkey Bar, Tippler, Dead Rabbit, Holiday Cocktail Lounge, and Le Boudoir Brooklyn where she created a widely recognized beverage program.
In 2022 she made Tales of the Cocktail’s Top 10 list for Best U.S. Bar Mentor. Prior to that, she was a two time nominee for U.S. Bartender of the Year, and was inducted into the Dame Hall of Fame. As the former Vice-President of the Bartender’s Guild of NY, she volunteered her time to focus on education, mentorship, and continues to give back in many ways including as a Co-Chair of the TOTC Education Committee.
A respected Educator, franky is certified by the Cognac and Pineau des Charentes categories, and has also received various certifications – CMS Level 1, WSET Level 2 Wine, D.O. Cava and Armagnac Academy among them. This is her second year as part of the BAR 5-Day® faculty.
franky has acted as a judge for numerous spirit and cocktail competitions including the Ultimate Spirits Challenge, New Orleans Spirits, NY International Spirits; and MIB, Bacardí Legacy, Gentleman Jack Whiskey Sour Classic, and World Class Top 100. She has also competed extensively, including World Class U.S. Finals, Diplomático World Tournament Continental Semi-Finals, and has earned her share of titles along the way in the Grand Marnier Grand Masters, Gra’it Grappa Challenge, and various others. In 2022 she was honoured with a Legacy Award from the Black Bourbon Society.
An experienced presenter, she has been a speaker at events and cocktail shows around the world. As an in demand MC, she was chosen to host the first ever World’s 50 Best Bars North America awards ceremony. Cocktail wise, she has been commissioned to develop recipes across categories. Her creations have appeared in numerous books, most recently Robert Simonson’s Modern Classic Cocktails, Dale DeGroff’s The New Craft of the Cocktail and Jacques Pépin’s Virtual Recipe Book . She’s been featured in publications such as Cosmopolitan, Daily Beast, Epicurious, Food & Wine, Forbes, NY Times, Spirits Business, Vanity Fair, VinePair, Wine Enthusiast, WSJ, and Esquire’s In Transit online series.
franky has studied French in France, Spanish in Spain, and feels very fortunate to be able to travel the world experiencing locales through the lens of their unique cuisines and drinking cultures.
